Triage X is an ongoing Manga series by Shouji Sato, of Highschool of the Dead fame. Drawn in his typical style, it depicts the actions of a hospital-themed vigilante team stationed at the Mochizuki General Hospital. Features motorcycles, gunplay, Stuff Blowing Up, and fanservice.
Though it has the Mochizuki team as protagonists, it mainly centers on Arashi Mikami, a teenaged vigilante assassin who received an organ transplant after Dr. Mochizuki's son Ryuu was declared brain-dead when a terrorist attack took place at the International Medical Center in Tobioka City. Even though he lost the things important to him, Arashi is prepared to make the best of it by combating crime in the city.
The series consist of a manga and an anime adaptation that aired in April 2015. The anime was localized by Sentai Filmworks in North America; the manga is being localized by Yen Press. It's announced that it'll end after 21 volumes.

Triage X provides examples of:
- Action Prologue: One is shown at the beginning of the series.
- Adaptation Expansion: Partially in the anime version where Syringe is shown analyzing the results of Black Label's action against the Aranamis.
- It also shows the early years of Sayo being taken care of by Yuko.
- Ambiguously Bi: Miki and Yuko. While the two of them are drunk out in the mountains, and on the phone with Mikoto, Miki starts groping Yuko, who only asks her to stop because in her own words 'that's what I'm supposed to say right?', explaining that she and the men of Tobioka need to know if they're real. They then start insisting men are stupid, before switching their opinion and start screaming over the phone about how they need to go find a man.
- An Arm and a Leg: A Neo TV crewmember is shot in the leg by a terrorist when Wild Hunt invades the building.
- Artistic License – Medicine: A justified case with the massive organ transplant operations that are part of many characters' backstories, including Arashi. While serving with a Doctors Without Borders-like NGO, Dr. Mochizuki discovered a village where a folk medicine treatment involving a virus and its vaccine were used to suppress immune response. He refined the technique, but the virus was so contagious and so lethal without the vaccine he and his team decided to suppress knowledge of it rather than risk a worldwide epidemic.
- Asshole Victim: Pretty much anyone killed by the main characters. They will often be seen in a Kick the Dog moment to further justify the main characters killing them.
- Badass Crew: Everyone in the main cast.
- Barbie Doll Anatomy: Mikoto is shown full-frontally nude in the second episode, but there's a plain area of bare skin where her genitals should be. Censor Steam is usually used elsewhere.
- Boom, Headshot!:
- Black Label frequently kills targets with a single gunshot to the head at close range.
- An idol singer suffers this from Wild Hunt, killing her on the spot.
- Car Fu: Mikoto and Arashi make use of this with their motorcycle from time to time.
- Code Name: The protagonists' organization classifies people they deal with using medicine-themed terms, from 'Fever' (minor nuisances that amount to no tangible threat to Tobioka City) to different types of 'Black Label' (criminals so vile that they need to die for the good of the city but untouchable to conventional law and justice) such as 'Malignant Tumor'.
- Crossover: With Highschool of the Dead in Lightning Pop.
- Dead Star Walking: Chikage is voiced by Ryoka Yuzuki. She dies after two episodes.
- 'Die Hard' on an X: The Neo TV arc has terrorists hijack an idol concert with Oriha attempting to fight off the terrorists.
- Dysfunction Junction: All of the characters are confirmed to have had a major brush with death. Arashi nearly died, and would have had he not been given most of his best friend's body. Mikoto nearly died in a motorcycle accident, the same one that killed her brother. Hitsugi was experimented upon as a child, became a superhuman weapon, killed everyone involved, and was then killed and revived by Yuko. Oriha is implied to have lost her mother, though how is unknown. It's not yet stated what the others' had happen.
- Enemy Mine: Black Label and the remnants of the Tobishiro-gumi join forces after the city is isolated due to the Meta Virus outbreak.
- Fanservice: Tons of it.
- Fiery Coverup: How our heroes obscure the evidence of their actions.
- Gainaxing: Done from time to time in the anime, especially because almost all of the female characters have rather large breasts.
- Hostage Situation: Occurs regularly throughout the show, such as when the terrorists take over the Neo TV station building.
- Mook Horror Show: Black Label are regular thugs' worst nightmare.
- Morton's Fork: The people with explosive vests strapped to them when Mikoto attempted to take down the remnants of the Kabuto-gumi. They are told that if they can kill Mikoto, the gang leader would let them live, but if they don't, he would set their vests off. Chikage tells them he probably wouldn't hold up that promise had they of succeeded. It's defused when Oriha was able to disarm them.
- Mikoto gives the drug dealer a hacksaw to either cut his hand and get away, but eventually bleed to death or allow himself to be caught and arrested by the police.
- Oh, Crap!: Do not bother to shoot Arashi's motorbike helmet as it is totally bulletproof.
- Off Screen Villain Dark Matter: Syringe has access to an V-22 Osprey and if the fake Makoto Ogawa is any indication, to prototype small arms that even Western militaries have not fielded yet into actual combat ops.
- Reality Ensues:
- The entire Tobioka Police is overwhelmed when they find out that they need to kill Meta Virus victims if their eyes are already black, which meant that they can't be cured. Since there is no legislature to handle it, they're forced to tie them up by ambushing them.
- Tobioka is sealed off from the outside world in order to prevent an outbreak. It also helps that the mayor is an ally of Black Label.
- Reed Richards Is Useless: Justified with Dr. Mochizuki's transplant technique, which he suppressed because it involves an extremely deadly virus that could cause a pandemic if it escapes the lab. He used the last of it on Arashi.
- Sequel Hook: As of the final episode, Syringe and the Yakuza are still at large, Konomi is still in a coma, and as Arashi decides to walk back to headquarters, someone has his or her scope laid on Arashi...
- Something Only They Would Say: Arashi thinks that D's his father since he says things that Arashi knows such as the bombing incident years ago.
- Stuff Blowing Up: Done on a regular basis in the show.
- The Siege: Black Label and most of the Tobioka Police are involved in holding off parts of the city from D99-turned zombies.
- The Stinger: Several episodes end with one. Most of them involve Kaname Makiishi, one of the leaders of Syringe.
- Tyop on the Cover: The 'Monte Calro SS' restaurant Arashi visits in the first episode. It was probably supposed to say 'Monte Carlo SS'
- Vigilante Team: What the main characters are.
- Wham Episode: After the end of the Pyrina arc, Tatara and Suzue realize that the Makoto Ogawa they know is not him. They find out that Syringe has 'taken care' of the real one so that their mole can take over.
- In the Neo TV arc when Wild Hunt leads armed terrorists to take over the Neo TV station, then kills an idol singer to prove they're serious.
- Sayo reveals to the Murasaki siblings that she's responsible for killing her father, Togo Itaru, while berserk due to the use of D99.
- D leaves very specific details of the bombing attack that got Arashi killed that suggests that he's fighting his long lost father.
- Where the Hell Is Springfield?: Tobioka City's location in Japan is unknown.
- World of Buxom: The anime adapatation drives this Up to Eleven.
- Would Hit a Girl: A man in a bear suit similarly attempts to attack Oriha and the other girls with her, forcing them to fight back.
